Elena Agathangelou
meet the Artist

Agathangelo (Elena Agathangelou) is a full-time artist born in 1991 in Limassol, Cyprus.
Her work is inspired by the unequivocal way the Mediterranean positively affects people through notions of self-discovery, freedom and self-exploration.

The artist studied Fine Art (BA) in Manchester School of Arts. Her unwavering art dedication led her to the heart of the art scene in London, where she completed her MA in Fine Art in Central Saint Martins.

Her first solo exhibition in 2018, titled “Hidden Beauty”, initiated by the beauty that lies behind closed, or half-open doors, has led her to an art journey where the door is a link between different worlds, as a symbol of transitions and opportunities, and as a reference to concepts such as freedom, discovery and transformation and it becomes more than the object, but also the subject and the action of self-exposure and new journeys ahead.

“My Heart is Blue”, is a covid-inspired collection of which the subject matter continues from the previous collection and it clearly shows the longing for freedom and the departing from self-induced and imposed isolation; a nostalgia for anything that is blue, hence liberating: the sky, the sea and the fluid liberty of living in the Med.

“We are all stories in the end”, the artist’s third collection and a natural continuation of the previous two collections, depicts the deep reflection, geometry but also the complexity of each experience as part of the whole, a break-down and sharp look into what makes us whole. The deconstruction of her inspiration into tiny elements of what we are and what becomes of us provides a necessary link to how the artist has evolved and naturally transformed her art through the years.

Her fourth collection, “365 days of colourful thoughts” was created during a sensitive and crucial period of the artists life – during her battle with cancer. It was then when she decided to become a full-time artist. This collection depicts the multidimensional stories that make us up, the uniqueness and beauty of each different story through hidden meanings, words and expressions.

Each exhibition reveals more about the story of each of us – the visitor understands the unique journey that begins by opening a door, the associations it creates and finally, the expression of our thoughts as the final destination, creating dynamic compositions.

Her upcoming collection, to be first showcased in Mykonos from 2-10 August 2024, wraps the journey of discovery – “μπλε / mble”, as a color of infinite space, symbolizes the feeling of freedom and peace but also the color of distance and silence, necessary prerequisites for every journey and deep reflection.

A door. A new world or an old world revisited. A pass way to better, or different. Elena’s art inspires, enlightens or you can use inflamed and sets the standard for deep reflection, beautiful artwork and the essence of being: discovering ourselves every step of the way.
