Agathangelo (Elena Agathangelou), is a Cypriot artist born in Limassol in 1991. Her art, deeply influenced by stories and identity, explores themes of self-discovery, freedom, and self-exploration.

Elena honed her artistic skills by studying Fine Art (BA) at Manchester School of Arts and later completed her MA in Fine Art at Central Saint Martins in London.

Artistic Journey and Collections

Elena’s artistic journey is marked by a series of evocative collections, each building upon the last:

• • “Hidden Beauty” (2018): Her debut solo exhibition centered on the door as a powerful symbol. It represents transitions, opportunities, and the link between different worlds, embodying concepts of freedom, discovery, and transformation. The door in her art is not just an object but also a subject and an action of self-exposure.
  • “My Heart is Blue”: This collection, inspired by the COVID-19 pandemic, expresses a longing for freedom and a departure from isolation. The color blue symbolizes liberation, evoking the sky, the sea, and the fluid liberty associated with life in the Mediterranean.
  • “We are all stories in the end”: As a natural progression, this collection delves into the deep reflection, geometry, and complexity of individual experiences. It deconstructs what makes us whole, providing insight into the artist’s own evolution.
  • “365 days of colourful thoughts”: Created during her battle with cancer, this collection was a pivotal moment leading her to become a full-time artist. It depicts the multidimensional stories that comprise us, highlighting the uniqueness and beauty of each personal narrative through hidden meanings and expressions.
  • “Μπλε / mble,” was showcased in Mykonos in August 2024. This collection wraps up her journey of discovery, with blue symbolizing infinite space, freedom, peace, distance, and the silence essential for deep reflection.

Each of Elena’s collections invites visitors on a unique journey, starting with the metaphorical opening of a door, leading to new associations, and culminating in the expression of thoughts, creating dynamic and deeply personal compositions.

Upcoming Exhibition

Elena’s newest collection, “Unscripted”, will be showcased too in Mykonos, in  August 2025. This collection marks a powerful artistic shift, a raw and real embrace of the unplanned from an artist who once meticulously orchestrated every detail. This bigger, bolder collection builds upon the resonant narratives of her earlier collections, which highlighted the uniqueness of each person’s story as it unfolds through their experiences and decisions. Having personally navigated profound challenges, including a battle with cancer, Agathangelo now reveals that true beauty and growth emerge not from rigid plans, but from embracing life’s unexpected turns.

This exhibition is a striking invitation to immerse yourself in a visual dialogue that celebrates resilience, the joy of living, and the profound beauty of a life genuinely, vibrantly unscripted.
